Combined city tour with visit to the city museum and Museum Henriette Polak

Zutphen museums are actually two different museums in one building.

The Stedelijk Museum Zutphen is a historic museum that collects the history of Zutphen and the current Achterhoek and visualises an original way. Descend into the vaulted medieval cellar and step through the history of the place developed into the city of Zutphen. You are guided along objects which are among the oldest in the Netherlands and far belong beyond. As the oldest comic strip Netherlands. Or the quadrant, the oldest watch Europe. This medieval navigation tool was found in 2013 during an archaeological investigation on the Houtmarkt. Each object is a story. During your walk from the Old Stone Age until now you see the development of the city, with highlights – such as the town charter in 1195 and the Hanseatic League – and lows,

Museum Henriette Polak is named patron Henriette Polak-Schwarz (1893-1974, born in Zutphen). They became friends in 1964 with Joop Sjollema artist (1900-1990), when he painted her portrait. He knew Henriette Polak to convince of the need to establish a museum of Dutch figurative art that was rooted in the academic tradition, but which continued to develop. Besides the permanent collection, the museum also has changing exhibitions.
